LocHal, Tilburg, THE NETHERLANDS

Until 2009, the LocHal in Tilburg was the main workshop of the Dutch Railways.
It has now been transformed into the cultural centre of a new, vibrant urban area.
The weathered industrial structure and its atmosphere have been preserved
and new structures were kept to a minimum to preserve the building’s spatial qualities.
A strong ethos of sustainability in the design solutions contributes to the well-being of its users.
The building is publicly accessible and a meeting point, thus contributing to the revitalisation of the neighbourhood.
