Join Josh Grant and Sam Bass as they introduce you to UEFN: what it is, why it matters, and what's coming soon.

Sam will use the latest UEFN tech—Scene Graph Prefabs, Verse-driven NPC behavior, Verse UI, camera and control devices—to build out a UEFN spin on a classic action-strategy game.

Once I have a new PC(many years in the future), I'd be able to enjoy UEFN power and make a nice game there.

UEFN is a gold mine for indies, especially solo developer.

I really dont see the point in trying to push a more limited version of Unreal that's limited to Fortnite. The only successful UEFN projects are cheap copies of other games like Only Up.

If anyone actually wants to make an original game you should just use Unreal Engine which is also free and not constrained to a walled garden.

Thanks for continuing to upload content about UEFN, it is very important for those of us who are betting on this technology... Although UEFN is not Unreal Engine and is quite limited, I hope that in the future it can reach at least half of what Unreal is... Greetings

Although we are building our game Cosmic Force on UE5 UEFN looks like an option to build a specific Cosmic Force mission that also works as a shop window to your main project - what do you think?

It'd be great if you could make stats like MAU public in Discovery like CCU. People see the CCU and assume that's the entire audience for the game, not just who is playing at any given moment. But if they could see that xyz have played this day or this week or this month then maybe they'd be more likely to try playing it too.. even if there are not as many currently playing it. Just my thought.

What does all this technology matter when silly meme-games from even sillier influencers are making all the money. There is so much potential in these systems, but it's not used at all.
Isn't that frustrating for all the talented engineers at Epic ?

This reminds me so hard of the Use Map Settings in the old school Star Craft editor

Project Evo is the best game we have ever developed.

I am learning Unreal with c++

Do I need to switch to UEFN now ?

What I am currently learning will be absolete in 2 years from now ?

It is so weird to split an ecosystem in two.. Now i got two programming languages and ecosystems to learn ? Jeeez

so instead of fixing thousands of bugs on UE vanilla and delivering on decade old plugins that are still in beta. epics brilliant plan is to create a separate engine install just for fortnite and create totally new features on that.... What if, and im just using my brain here, they just made FN plugins and modules on vanilla to produce FN content. Instead of splitting their teams up into two groups; those that work on UEFN and those that dont. Some might say "oh well this is like an incubator for UE" no its a marketing ploy to push developers into making fortnite content. If UE was serious about incubation they would release nightly builds of UE, you know how normys do it.

There were 10s of people at this talk, when I look at this I think "wow epic really likes to lose money". Another great idea from the people who brought you The Epic store.

Uefn is not the future, its too restrictive to create meaningful games

You're holding back a bit too much for UEFN. You could add a lot of features and let it rip

This talk is very misleading. The UEFN is VERY limited. You can import Skeletal Meshes, and animations, but you cant' use them for anything that is meaningful. There are no Blueprints or AnimBlueprints. Verse does not give you ability to create actors. Or sample/query the world. The only way to do 90% of tricks is via Sequencer, that has very bad replication. And since Verse is always running on server, you can't make Player specific logic w/o replication. Verse has no access to Widgets. There are no collision checks (you can't make player bounce). All the actual logic is embedded in "devices" that are premade and can't be modified. And this list just goes on...

This is a wrong move. This simplified UE with a limited ecosystem cannot create any market-ready games. You might attract a lot of newbies who want an easy tool to create hobby games. In the end, not only will these newbies fail to become real game developers, but you will also waste your money investing in the framework. This is a lose-lose investment.
