Beats Demo: Tuning Forks

preview_player
Показать описание
This is a demonstration of the periodic variations in the sound loudness, or "beats," produced by two frequencies that are close to each other, with the beat frequency given by the difference between these frequencies. The nearer the two frequencies, the slower the beats. Thus, musicians "tune out the beats" to tune their instruments to a reference frequency.

It was created at Utah State University by Professor Boyd F. Edwards, assisted by James Coburn (demonstration specialist), David Evans (videography), and Rebecca Whitney (closed captions), with support from Jan Sojka, Physics Department Head, and Robert Wagner, Executive Vice Provost and Dean of Academic and Instructional Services.

Thanks for making all these demo videos, with my classes out due to corona and no access to my equipment, your videos have helped bring physics to life to my students.

thanks a lot for the demonstration. In our school, we are barely shown such demonstrations and i think these demonstrations are absolutely required for learning physics.

I'm a mechanical engineer and I've heard this many times being in India. When temple bells ring, I've noticed this a lot and have wondered what was that wahwahwahwah sound !

And here I get an answer, just amazing. No f**king teacher (not being disrespectful but just an emotional thing), all my life taught me behaviour of Beats phenomenon in real life.

I bow to you!

Thanks, I sent this to a non-musician who has just joined the church choir club and wants to know how to tell when something or someone is in tune.
