'Queen Victoria At Kensington Palace With Lucy Worsley'

BAFTA winning historian and Joint Chief Curator of Historic Royal Palaces Lucy Worsley takes Dan Snow on a tour of Kensington Palace, one of the principle royal residences since 1689. It was the childhood home of Queen Victoria, who was born on the 24 May 1819.

The rooms of the royal residence were renovated for an exhibition which opened to the public on the 200th anniversary of Victoria's birth.

So how did the young Victoria spend her time at Kensington Palace? And where was she at the moment she was declared queen?

Reason Lucy Worsley makes for one of the most engaging historian presenter, is her true passion for the history she teaches. Very contagious!

Lucy Worsley can make the history of dog houses interesting. A gift not often found in historians.

What a mixture - an incisive questioner in Dan Snow and a remarkably articulate Lucy Worsley. The best.

She is absolutely brilliant. You can see her mind constructing elaborate tapestries of knowledge before she distills it all into a response that educates and guides people toward what her research has uncovered. She is a master teacher.

What is known about the letters and journal notes Queen. Victoria wrote and her daughter had burned? I really appreciate Ms Worsley’s telling of history. She makes it come alive

I love how Lucy gives the social context - putting these historical figures in the world they actually lived in, not our current world. I’m reading her biography of Jane Austen now and I can’t wait to reread her novels now with a better understanding of Jane Austens world.

I listened to Lucy talk about Queen Caroline at St Mary’s College Calne recently, it was awesome! She said that Caroline is her favourite Queen, and fun fact, when I asked if she had a least favourite Queen (some historians hate Elizabeth I or Victoria etc)… she replied “the White Witch of Narnia”

If she was my history teacher in school I would have paid so much attention. She is a truly incredible historian and she knows how to make history both informative and entertaining
