The end of the forest, followed by Isengard, comes into view. Hobbit laughter is heard. Merry and Pippin sit on top of the Isengard storeroom, feasting.

This scene perfectly illustrates why hobbits were so resistant to the ring’s evil. Most people would be trying to get into the tower to search for treasure or valuable artifacts. The hobbits be like, “Nah. I think I’ll have a snack, and a smoke and just chill”.

I just love how Pip and Merry can find a moment of joy, fun, and relaxation in a world that has gone to shit. It makes me smile and laugh. I love Pippin and Merry.

I kind of have to remind myself that from Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli's perspective, they have been travelling for days, maybe even weeks trying to find these two. They freed an old king from a spell, escort refugees, and fought against an Uruk army, all while under the horrible stress of not knowing if these two idiots were still alive. And then they go to Isengard to find them eating, drinking, and getting

I love how their just enjoying their victory, Legolas and Aragorn are just glad to see them alive, Gimli is giving them shit, and Gandalf just looks 100% done.

What I find hilarious is right after this, Treebeard greets Gandalf by saying “Young master Gandalf” when Gandalf, at least in this form, has lived for over two thousand years! Treebeard is quite literally prehistoric, at an estimated 17, 000 years old.
