MUSIC SELECTIONS:
Summon The Heroes - John Williams
Mambo (West Side Story) - Leonard Bernstein

Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story/This Land is Your Land/Stars and Stripes Forever - Lin-Manuel Miranda, Woody Guthrie, John Phillip Sousa
Saturday’s show pays tribute, honors, and celebrates the lives of those who selflessly ran towards danger to help. To honor the thousands of civilian souls who lost their lives. To celebrate the spirit, strength, and resiliency of our nation.
Our performance begins with Summon the Heroes, honoring the brave Americans who rushed to the scene when duty called. Next, we play Mambo (from West Side Story) and New York/Empire State of Mind, an evocation of the energy, life, compassion, love, and strength of the “city that never sleeps.“ We transition to Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story, which memorializes those who lost their lives while commemorating the unity and strength of the American people. Our performance concludes with a medley of This Land Is Your Land and Stars and Stripes Forever.
The Michigan Marching Band would like to thank Bill and Janelle Sykes for making this performance possible!
