Howdy ya’ll. Today we will look at Dresden, Germany in fantastic detail through a collection of 150 of the rarest and oldest photographs taken before the events of the Second World War. We will pay special attention, photographically, to the quality and quantity of the architecture, with the elaborate Dresden Castle at the core of the city since at least the year 1200. Enjoy!

What kind of society could build such incredible architecture? What kind of society would destroy such incredible architecture? Thank you for this presentation.

Yes, the Bombing of Dresden was intentional. There is a book, "Slaughterhouse Five" by Kurt Vonnegut that tells of the Bombing of Dresden. I read this in the 1970's or early 80;s. Vonnegut dedicated the book to the Residents of Dresden. The book is unique in its manner of addressing Hypocrisy. Dresden was bombed primarily by the USA. The American public was told that Dresden had Munitions Factories so had to be bombed, However, there were NO Munitions Factories within a 30 mile radius of Dresden. At the time of the war the population was about 180, 000.
When I was about 10 years old (about 10 years after WWII) I received a Christmas gift of a children's set of Dresden China having plates, dishes, cups, saucers, Tea Pot, etc etc....as did All the little girls of that time. Dresden was known for its history of producing the most beautiful Blue and White China. Dresden had been filled with China Factories, not munitions factories. This is giving me tears right now.

I am living in Saxony near Dresden, which is an astonishing city. Some buildings on these pictures here are still in tact or rebuild after the war. But only on these old pictures here, you can imagine the real beauty of Dresden in the old days. It's amazing what people were capable of when they were in harmony with themselves and with all around. Maybe this form of architecture represents their inner form of peace and love? Amazing <3

It pains me every day to see all around me only ugly concrete cubes. Architecture used to be so majestic and awe inspiring and we've lost it all. We're surrounded by fake façades, fake people, fake History...

I live 20 minutes out from Dresden - incredibly beautiful city and surroundings! I totally recommend looking into Saxon Switzerland, which is close-by. A lot of melted ...s. A lot of bricks seamlessly transitioning to the mountains

Thank you Jared, Absolutely mind bending architecture. So we are told the first power tool was not invented until 1895 by a German Engineering company called C&E Fein combining an electric motor with a manual drill creating the very first power tool ! Of course we have also learned in recent history in ancient times they more than likely had tools that far exceed our technology today, but using frequency …
How Brutal and Evil was the USA Corp and it’s Allie’s in the absolute purposeful annihilation of these structures and even more so the beyond horrific suffering and decimation of the German people ! Most have no idea of the barbaric brutality and suffering that millions upon millions of Herman people and immigrants went through, those killed instantly in these bombings were the lucky ones, those who lived suffered brutal repeated rape, freezing temperatures, starvation and a death scene that came straight from the pit of hell !!!!

Incredible! I'm absolutely blown away by the beautiful massive structures! Once again we see horse and buggy responsible for bringing all this massive material to build such structures! I'm not buying it. Who ever build these were so far in advanced than what we are today. Our architect has gone down hill sad to say!

I just been to Dresden couple weeks ago. Absolute madness still. Same Berlin. And whole of Poland. Weird we never questioned that before. It s so obviously advanced

So interesting that in some photos from the 1800s there were remnants of even older civilizations, with the devastated (melted) huge block work in the backgrounds. And how very sad that the beauty of these buildings could not be tolerated to stand by those intent on destroying that era. Excellent photos - thank you for sharing.

I was born near Dresden. And I can assure you, EVERY building shown in this video is still standing or has been restored to its former glory!

I have wanted to see a video about Dresden for years! I started watching you when you were new, and got involved with other things, so I'm just checking back. You've become very confident and your work is epic. Thank you.
