Credit Card Rewards: Halal or Haram?

Is cashback halal? is cashback a form of riba? what is riba and how is it different from the cashback one may receive from their credit card?

I have a question about this issue!
Since we agree that using credit card isn't permissible at it's first place and it's used only in the case of utter need as the general principle of Our Deen permits it

Dire necessities allow prohibitions.

The sub principle of the above principle or a condition of the principle is

«الضرورة تقدر بقدرها»

Necessity must be assessed proportionately.

So isn't taking benefits from using credit card assessing a prohibited thing more than the proportional need ?

I have a question about credit card reward points.


If credit cards are justifiable as a "dire need, " do you think that it is permissible (from a shari'a standpoint) - in your opinion - to use a credit card in such a way as to increase one's credit card rewards? In other words, one would use the credit cards to rack up reward points and then use them to lower credit card charges (or for other uses)? (I ask this question with the assumption that one is paying off the bill consistently within the grace period). (A business can use the cards in such a way as to profit from these reward points and potentially pay off expenses).

While one might generally "need" a credit card to make purchases of particular types, or establish good credit (to rent an apartment for example), is using a credit card for reward points a "need?" Of course, one might already have the card because of a real need, but then incidentally use credit card reward points. But then, in that case, of "incidental usage, " would it be advisable to try to rack up points, which would mean making many purchases to increase one's rewards. Would this go against the spirit of a ruling that authorizes credit card usage based on "dire need?"


Relatedly, if it is possible to use the credit card reward points, does this mean that one can search for a credit card that offers great credit card reward deals?

Can u pls also shed light on futures and options trading in exchanges which are based on leverages? Overwhelming majority loses money in these trading. And only few make big money in it. It basically turns in to a zero sum game. I am getting good at it but above 2 things are pricking my heart to stop earning through it.
