Fethiye has one of Turkey's (Türkiye) most popular destinations for both short holidays and also for long term expat living. But does it live up to the hype? In this video we'll tell you what we like (and don't like) about Fethiye.
-----------------------------
𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡:
Here is some more information about prices and the cost of living in Fethiye as of Summer 2022. Remember that prices can change quickly here.
If you plan stay in Fethiye for a year or longer and plan to rent an apartment then you might want to check out the sahibinden website. We personally would be happy in a small 1 or 2 bedroom about 60 square meters (or 650 square feet). Right now (Summer 2022) these are renting for around 7000 TL or USD$400 per month, but prices vary greatly depending on the proximity to the beach, age of the building, whether or not the complex has a pool, etc. We suggest adding another $50 to $100 for utilities. For food we generally eat only two meals a day and eat out a couple of times per week. Based on current food costs, we think $400 per month would be a good food budget for us in Fethiye. Our health insurance is US$250 per month, but health care is generally inexpensive here. Here is a budget we think we could live on in Fethiye (but everyone's lifestyle is different and it might be higher or lower for you):
$500 Rent and Utilities
$400 Food
$50 Transportation
$100 Activities and Entertainment
$100 Miscellaneous
$300 Health Insurance and Health Care
TOTAL: US$1450 Per Month

As a Filipino living in Fethiye, Turkiye, I can say that it is so beautiful 🥰🥰🥰

We are learning so much about Turkiye from you, a country that really wasn't on our radar when we began our nomadic travels. Despite the strong foreign presence messing with the cultural vibe that you describe, Fethiye looks like a really attractive place. The beaches look unique and beautiful. You know we love those walking and biking paths. Combine that with the nice laid back people and some English spoken, it looks like a pleasant place to spend a lot of time.

I am 35 years old, I was born in Fethiye and lived here all my life. Based on my impressions, I can easily say that the expatriates in Fethiye, especially the British, Russians and Ukrainians, see themselves as superior class people than the local people and avoid friendship and communication with them as much as possible.

Very nice - we never did make it to Fethiye. The amount of British Expats there was surprising! It does look very nice overall though. Thanks for the video, as always.

If you could make one YouTube clip comparing with different countries long term stay such as Turkey and Portugal, it would be great. I like the one you talked about Malaysia MMH2 and how they changed criteria after Covid. Thanks. Happy travel.

Nice review and refreshingly honest . Looks pretty nice although I have been to Lake Crapola / Ajijic and not happening .. The size of the town looks good and is still on my list but look forward to the next place you go . Safe travels!

You’re right about the issues with expats.. I’m English and it’s something I hate. I actually think it’s an issue with some greedy sellers (they want to put the prices in pounds to get a bigger profit). This isn’t fair for locals and tourists.. everyone gets ripped off. I think they should make it illegal to sell in foreign currency’s.

Haha! We were there for 3 weeks and didn't see most of what you showed. Heck, we didn't even know they had a cable car! Guess we'll have to go back and see all of that. Hope you're enjoying Vietnam.
