I took combinatorics last year and now I am taking statistics. I understood how to calculate probability then, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to do it in statistics. You video helped me figure it out, and the reason is that the notation statistics is really stupid and confusing, where as combinatorics just uses combination and permutation to denote it which is much more intuitive.

So why is it true that two events are either mutually exclusive or independent? Why can't they be both?

In Dependent events, the numerator decrease

And of course, 1/2 * 12/52 * 1/6 should turn right away into 1/52, because the top 12 is cancelled with the 2 and 6 on the bottom.
