Vamos a Celebrar - Los Parranderos de UWI

Показать описание
Track 3 on the album Vamos a Celebrar - produced by Los Parranderos de UWI in 2005.
-----
As the title aptly implies, Los Parranderos de UWI’s second CD was a celebration of 25 years of sweet parang music. And what better way to celebrate than by presenting selections which have proven to be so popular over the years.
The CD comprised 15 tracks. Standard favourites such as the serenal “ Sereno” and the warap “Ay Ay Ay Como No” find pride of place in the collection alongside some of the group’s original compositions which have taken them to winners’ row at the competitive level. These included the title track “Vamos a Celebrar” and an anunciación “La Vírgen Santa”.
The aguinaldo “La Escogida” on the other hand, was a new composition while “Recordemos” was composed way back in 1988. This latter composition, unlike the traditional aguinaldos placed the message of Christmas in the modern day context.
Ever mindful of the foundation laid by the elders in the parang world, the group paid tribute to Henry Pereira in a medley and Learie Collymore in ¡Sepárala! as part of the celebration. And no celebration would be complete without some crèche or French Parang in “Chantez Noel” or even the Venezuelan influences in “Parranda del Zaguán”.
