Dan and Matt finally take a look at some much requested calendar plugins. Events Calendar Pro by Modern Tribe and Sugar Events Calendar by Pippin Williamson of Pippin's Plugins duke it out in this episode.

For developers, the code is easier to get into with Pippin Williamson. It was also the cheaper choice of the two.

Events Calendar Pro had more features for people using the calendar plugin to run a business. It has support for services like WooCommerce and an easier interface to track venues and ticket sales.

Thanks Mark. Since we shot this video, we have a client that brought Timely to us to use in a custom WordPress install. I expect to share our thoughts once we complete that project. Stay tuned!

Does single site license work for a multi-site network using a single domain?

I use Modern Tribe's The Events Calendar. I've found it to be the best for features and configuration. If the Calendar view was responsive, it would be *the* perfect event plugin.

Hey I know it has been a while since this was put out. Have you guys had a chance to evaluate Event Espresso and if so would you use it over the modern tribe plugin?

Does the pro version of Sugar Events Calendar create real posts when an event is set to recurring? ( Support is hopeless - haven't heard anything )

Hammal, it actually would be great to go back and look at some SEO plugins again, especially now that WordPress 3.7 and Google Hummingbird are upon us!

Hi Guys, your videos are awesome and informative!  I'm currently in the process of trying to finding an event / ticketing solution myself that has a really nice and polished look.  Unfortunately the 2 calendars that you are reviewing just don't have the look I'm needing.  I did happen to come across a site that does though and it's one of the nicest and most powerful clean event calendars I've ever seen.  Would you guys happen to know what they are using?  Normally I can see something in the code, but on this one I'm missing it. The website is www.paintnight.com .  If you go to the event calendar link at the top of their website you will see what I'm talking about.  Very Nice piece of programing and it even links to an eCommerce solution as well, but I'm not sure which one.  Any help on this is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!
Tim.

u guys must be getting pd the hella kickback from modern tribe. LOL...By far, not the best by any measure: customize, user friendly, value based, etc..NOWay...There is a free plugin out of the box that does nearly all mod tribe does with the of version. Perhaps, the tribe has an edge in terms of ticket dispensary and sales, but that is only reasoned according to the relativity toward Woo, which is a platform virtually designed for consumer product sales an marketing. So there..Big woooo! for the mod tribe. I will stick with my freebase and accomplish nearly the same..Besides, MyCalendar is a slam dunk alternative to the one I am using and the costly mentioned mod tribe... Meanwhile, in my opinion, the best in terms of customization, capacity to the degree of services, and specialization: I would not turn my back to EventsManager...I tried using all of these and Mod Tribe and the EventsManager both had problems involving several attempted themes. Also, I couldn't get them to associate to their designated pages created specifically for their categories, tags, locations, and whatnot...However, I moved to endorse the Timelyx plugin which is user friendly, customizable, operable in terms of supplying all of my needs, and probably most of the needs of others..I mean comone, how many promoters do you actually know, for real. I know of about half past zero shooting high noon.. That gig is sewed up with the venue's having control of operations and the promoters to take a cut for playing salesman of a different suit, but wearing a similar hat. The rest if the welfare is for the taken of the artist and entertainers associated with their collective enterprise suiting the Cons groups, like labels, and managers...Very few people are in a position to foster an endeavor of venue hosting, promoting or ticket sales...Besides, that kind of affair would require tools way beyond the scope of a simple plugin software. Oh well, enjoy your checks guys...LOL..I guess, in a way, you two are taking part in some fashion, the angle of promotion..At least in the sense if marketing and advertisement by way of product analysis and exposure/awareness's. Such a perfect platform to exercise such fitly niche, and low cost/low barrier to entry, as well. So, good luck and I wish you well.
