The Process From Zero Programming Knowledge to Software Development Job

Let's take a look at the overall workflow of going from zero programming knowledge to landing that job as a software developer. There are thousands of different caveats and ways to accomplish this, but this is based on my personal experience and what I've learned along the way.
I want to look at the big picture here to allow you to visualize the overall process, so I may be glossing over some details that you may deem important. Any questions you may have about those details I overlook very well may have been discussed in-depth in a previous video on the channel. Or you can just comment below and I'll help you out.

"For starters, you need to have an ambition to code. If you don't have an ambition to code, you're never going to actually learn how to code." 😊 So true. Another great video.

I just started my journey but I really like the idea that coding isn’t such an exact science and I like that it’s heavily based on problem solving. I’ve had a lot of jobs but coding definitely feels the most intellectually rewarding for me.

Love how you pointed out the negotiation aspect. People need to make sure they are properly compensated for their work.

You were apologizing at the end for rambling which, maybe for video editing's sake, you prefer not to do. But if you try to not ramble for the sake of the audience I have to disagree! I might be in the minority but I find the little spots of repeating yourself and throwing in extra examples to be really helpful!

I know you're probably trying not to freak people out, but there is a lot more to it than 'learn to code'. Picking a lane and a set of relevant tools increases your chances a lot. Corporate web developer? .Net core, IIS, Visual Studio, C#, Javascript/CSS/HTML. Data Engineer? SQL, Python, AWS, NoSQL, Hadoop. Etc. Always good to know GIT, ticketing systems, diagramming, and documentation. Learn popular frameworks, libraries, and IDEs within your lane.

Thank you for being honest, brother. I ramble a lot too. That's one of the reasons I am learning how to code. So I can ramble in my code and create new procs.
