Boombox Tape Loop Ambient

For the last month of 2018 we wanted to do something special in our showroom here in Los Angeles. The idea was lent to us from several retro boomboxes that suddenly showed up in our vicinity. We figured that there is no better way to utilize them than to create a multi-tape loop modular composition that would fill our beautiful showroom with warmly decaying recordings of various pieces of gear and with a sprinkle of some field recordings. There are more cassettes than the boomboxes and all of them are interchangeable, though serving the common purpose of perpetual drone. If you are local, come by and swap some tapes around.

Holy shi....mmering, in the 90's I played in a post punk band and we had exactly the same Panasonic to record the "noise" we were making !

Two things occured to me :

1) I wish I hadn't thrown away all my tapes from the 90s. It was A LOT of tdk sa90's & MA90's . There was well over a 100 of those alone, and then there was the standard d90's and so on. You do the maths.

2) This is remarkable & works! I did something like this using 4 CD players in a large room, as part of an art installation. That's another story for another time.

Ha, I don't know what I think about it, feels like there should be some bass growl, or each box pitched differently in Bass and Treble outputs. I can hear the noise, wind chime like twinkles, and sort of growl, although want more; maybe another video, like this?
