How to Read NOTAMs...for Drone Pilots

NOTAMs (or Notices for Airmen) are used to alert pilots of hazards and temporary flight restrictions. Since these can apply to drone pilots as well, it is crucial to read and understand NOTAMs before every flight. This video will explain how to find them and how to read them, with a focus on drone operations.

Drone Pilot Canada v2.7 will include a visual display of certain NOTAMs on the map. Stay tuned for its release, coming soon!

Thanks for this video Don! You used a NOTAM that I asked about last week in the video (Camrose, Alberta). Helped me to understand what I was reading.

FYI not all forest fires in Canada have associated NOTAMs. Wildfires in Canada have a 5 nautical mile restriction at all times anywhere. Even when a NOTAM is not posted.

Hi Don. I use your awesome app but I found a great website for everyone about METAR and NOTAM in layman's terms but my comment seems deleted by youtube each time i provide details. Hope this one sticks.

Newbie here, so I am confused a little. How, what where, and when questions.
So I see an area I want to fly in, how do I find out where I am and how to access the Notam to that area?
How do I get a Notam book or link to the Notam web, so I may access the info?

Do you already have a practical video on real-life use out in the field before flying?
Thank you for your great work btw.
