Ohio State didn't choose not to play. The BIG10 commissioner chose for the conference without the players and teams input

Maybe the AP voters are trying to pressure the B1G TEN and PAC 12 into playing?

In fairness, at this point no one knows if any of the teams will actually be playing.

No one has played so the field is even. When play starts the rankings will be adjusted accordingly

So let me get that straight. Ohio State is not Playing because of Covid, but Ohio State High School Football is? Tell me this Big Ten Decision wasn't Political?

As soon as I saw the poll I thought
precisely the same thing: including
Big-10 & Pac-12 teams was
preposterous.

But I figured that, although without any
competition to consider, it's only the
preseason and the AP likely evaluates
things like recruitment, coaching changes
and the such.
It's what they do every season, or
'preseason'.

I'm sure that when or if the actual season
begins the AP will drop any non-participating conferences or teams from consideration.

How are all 86 bowl spots going to be filled when only 84 teams are playing?

The reason question is why ESPN gave Mike Greenberg and Max Kellerman a radio show?

They should only rank the teams that are playing. Maybe hold a fantasy football for teams that didn’t play this year. Besides some teams possibly get ranked that always fall a little short every year

In 2020 there is no reason to have any rankings nor a valid reason to be played football anywhere this fall.

So is Greeny back on radio because "Get Up" was an absolute fail. Viewship was laughable

Its Ohio State bias. Same reason they had them ranked above LSU last year when they played nobody.

I suspect 4 weeks in we'll have ten SEC teams ranked.

If you read the disclaimer at the bottom they clearly say that if a team doesn't play in week one they're disqualified....

I would rank them as such and then once the season starts you drop everyone that isn't playing as needed. If we don't play a game and the other conferences play a season then we should finish unranked.

I don't really get why they did that

You can’t rank teams that aren’t playing, that’s like putting me in the lineup at Indianapolis 500!

Ohio State # 1 ranked in spring football 😂

Once the season starts, the AP will not rank the teams which are not playing. And, who knows if all the teams or conferences will be playing at the end of the season if there is an outbreak of COVID-19 among some of those ranked teams.

If they’re not playing, don’t add them. If the Big 10 and PAC12 decide to start then put their teams in the rankings. But right now these rankings just look ridiculous.
