Worked perfectly thank you so much. Didn’t think I’d find a video for a car this new.

Simplest method worked. New cord got me back in the game. Thank you.

It helped me A LOT: resolved my issue! Subaru XV Swiss Edition 2018. Thanks for that!

For anyone who’s going crazy and their Subaru dealer giving them the runaround… the USB ports below the head unit are the problem. It’s not the cable, it’s not your phone, it’s not having to reset the head unit. The USB ports themselves stopped working after about 2 years or so in my 2020.

Turn off your phone and then turn it back on. Works for me whenever this issue comes up. Also, make sure you get a data + charging cord and not just the cheap power cord otherwise it won't work

You didn't mention updating the firmware on the head unit, and the process to do it via WiFi or the Aha app. It seems Subaru releases a new version about once a year.

You would think that with so many years and models Subaru would fix the damn issue

Thank you for this video. I have a 2018 Outback and my Bluetooth connection beeps constantly making listening unbearable. To try to fix this, I disconnected my bluetooth and am using carplay and a cord. But, when I am turning my car off, the radio blares (not sure how to disable it) and the bluetooth beeping resumes. My carplay also randomly calls people on my favorites list. Is this a dealer issue, do you think? Thank you

Bought a 23 imprezza brand new and anytime I buy a new charging cord it doesn’t even work on the car almost like the port just doesn’t respond. 👍🏼 Apple car play is constantly grayed out on the screen, can’t even enjoy the simple things it seems.

Regarding the cord. Rub a pencil eraser over the metal contacts on both sides, then use a little rubbing alcohol. Make sure the connector is dry before re-inserting. Many times, just the pencil eraser is enough to clean the oxidized metal on the connector.

Terrible as this fact is, there exist USB cables which only charge but do not carry data to sync mobile devices. Thankfully they are few and far between.

FYI, Cheap wire doesn’t transfer data only charge.

I know nothing about this kind of stuff, will my Serius radio still work?

The factory reset actually works on all my devices but not on subaru. It resets the computer in the subaru but not the media, your bluetooth phone remains connected, Android auto, Apple auto apps remains intact. I wanted to factory reset so the android app will uninstal but it is still there.

Nope.
- New cord
- Factory reset the head unit
- Manually checked for and updated Subaru software
- Updated iPhone software and cycled the device

All this happened right after I had DCM bypass work done by the dealership. Worked when I dropped it off, hasn't worked since. They claim CarPlay should be unaffected, talk to Apple Support. Apple says not an iPhone issue, talk to Subaru (and CarPlay works fine in my other two vehicles).
