You can never guess based on submitted clips, because 1: People are always going to submit their sickest clip, meaning you’re going to get the brief moments when they look at their absolute best, and so they will look far more skilled, and far higher ranked, than they actually are. 2: Because it’s such a brief shot, because you’re not seeing more of their gameplay, they’re even further able to narrow the window to cut out all of their poor play, leaving you only the brief moments they look like geniuses. This further allows players who practice only mechanics, but have garbage judgment and awareness and are constantly out of position or even going for a setup and straight whiffing, to give you only the moments where their mechanics paid off to perfection, while not letting you see all the failures. If you want to do proper rank-guessing, you really just need to download replays *at random* (so they’re not user-submitted) and watch at least 2-3 minutes of the game. That’s the only way to make sure the skill shown in the watched video will actually match the skill level the game is being played at. Otherwise you’re just going to get a ton of clips of people getting lucky but making it look clean.
