San Diego Bishop Robert McElroy was one of 21 new cardinals named by Pope Francis Sunday, the only one chosen from the United States.

McElroy, 68, was born in San Francisco and attended Harvard College, where he earned a degree in American history, and Stanford University, where he earned a master's degree in the same subject.

He's been San Diego's bishop since 2015, and is also president of California Catholic Conference, the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in California.'

How can anyone say it is a blessing to have a potential Cardinal that promotes confusion in the faith? Supporting Pro-Abortion politicians to receive communion normalizes their sin and is detrimental to the faith. These guys always say the same thing about being surprised. Sometimes they really are surprised but often they're not, especially if they are heading a Vatican dicastery. I'd guarantee that McElroy knew this was coming. The pope should have studied McElroy's file personally before doing this. McElroy has a deep history of moving around abusive priests. McElroy was recommended for the hat because he's an inside player who has deep connections to Ted McCarrick. Cupich is the kingmaker now.
