Fun fact: the “great tribulation” everyone refers to in John’s Revelation has already happened. It was the destruction of the temple of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The believers were not taken off the earth and raptured up to heaven, they left Jerusalem because Jesus foretold the temple’s destruction, and the signs to watch out for, which they saw. He also foretold that the seige of Jerusalem would last for 3 years.

Revelation is not some far-long 21st century prophesy of doom, it was a message of encouragement from John to the 1st century believers. Also, Christ said that the hour of his return is not for us to know, so we should stop trying to predict it (looking at you, Jehova’s Witnesses, Church of Latter Day Saints)
