Histria - Istrios: the ancient Greek colony next to the Danube Delta

This is a video shot during one of my yearly Dobrudja study trips, in November 2018. It presents the ancient Greek colony of Histira (in actual Romanian)/ Istrios in antiquity (the name of the river Danube in Greek), located just south of the Danube Delta, on the shore of a former Black Sea laguna, now a lake. It has been one of the metropolises of the region, a great populational, commercial, cultural and religious centre, a radiation point of ancient Greek civilisation into the Barbaricum of the northern Balkans. The place appears mentioned and discussed even in Herodotus' Histories.
