For the record guys, Teachers unions are VERY powerful in Ontario. They have swindled every government for decades. The teachers are fine, it's the unions that consolidated their power with premiers.

Teachers step up every day. No one is obligated to risk their life.

Stop blaming others. Just add it you all don't know.
So we will see all of you people at the schools.
Conservative government took all the support away for many years.
Thanks Harris AND Harper. You've been gutting the education budgets for ever!!!
What did you exspect?

Time to step up and go into an enclosed classroom with over a dozen students for several hours a day through the winter when cases will spike and let's just ignore the fact that a few universities that opened early in the States have already shut back down. Yeah, primary school kids will definitely socially distance and wear a mask conscientiously. This is a disaster. The smartest move is to just be honest. Tell everyone that if you can keep your kids at home, do that. For those who can't, we will try to keep in-person learning for just those parents/kids that absolutely need it. Hire more teachers to help facilitate online learning. Be honest and tell parents and teachers to expect a difficult winter. Explain that the provinces resources will be deployed to get us through to the Spring. For students worried about grades, reassure them that teachers will take into account the difficulties of distance education.
Or...you can say "step up" whatever the eff that's supposed to mean.

So what do the teachers want? cut the class sizes in half by doubling the amount of teachers, decreasing their work load by half and let me guess they want hazard pay. They want all this in a month? The teachers union is the strongest union in Toronto they get paid very well, they bring work home but they do get 2 and a half months off in the summer. Correct me if i am wrong but they get paid a decent amount over 100K per year.
They have used the children as an excuse to get raises for decades, now they are using the children to decrease their work load. Every strike they have they claim is for the children while taxes need to be increased on low income family's for teachers to get their raises. How about a salary cap for 20 years so money can be redirected to school renovations and development of more teachers so class sizes can decrease to 30 students per class.

Fire them and hire non-union teachers.

Remove the ridiculous sick leave plan that is grossly abused. 131 sick days? Who allowed this? Now, they want to not return to work and still get paid. Lay them all off
