Fan Friday Request:
"Hi,
I remember watching a snippet a while back of David Letterman's interview with Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer. All of Dakota's other interviews he seemed so broken up about the situation that led to him receiving the medal of honor. It was nice to see David Letterman put Dakota at ease and let him joke around a bit. I was wondering if you could post that video?
Thank you very much,
Rebecca Ferrara"

I got to meet Dakota at an Associated General Contractor’s lunch. The room was kind of quiet, not everyone was familiar with him. He gave his talk and took questions and the room was quiet so I asked if he still greases his own Bobcat. Then he related the story about being on Letterman and got a few more laughs since it was construction related. I brought a poster with first day of issue Marine Corps stamps and asked him to sign it. He’s so humble he signed it really small so as not to cover any of the other pictures even though he belongs shoulder to shoulder with those Marines.

God bless this man and all armed services and I’m glad the audience stood. What a humble person.

I respect Letterman for having all the questions pre filtered and known before hand. This wasnt about him it was about country and Sgt Meyer.

As a Veteran I can say people have always been kind to me. A shame the Vietnam Veterans got treated so bad.

Brings tears to my eyes. I lost my beloved brother several years ago. He was 30+ years in the army. He loved America and his men loved him. There was no room for the many that came to his funeral and big men cried. The Lord guided him through 2 wars. God please touch America and show us Your will.

He was so stiff when he first walked out, but then he was hilarious in the seat. Chatty and witty, until the 15:00 mark, when it turned really dark. Dave was slick, immediately changing the subject to something positive.

Also, when a MoH recipient asks you to have a beer, you say yes, AND you buy the beer.

As a combat veteran it is a struggle every day, love each other and realize, we have it good in the United States, many do not.

The look on his face said everything. He wasn't thinking of the men he saved, he was thinking about the men he couldn't

“Greasing the bobcat” sounds like it came straight from a Top Ten List of things that sound dirty but aren’t.

I have watched this a few times and you can not deny how brave he is in every aspect. He should never pay for a Beer again. When you join the military you learn and accept that the world isnt the same anymore.

It's really respectful that they showed the other veterans at the end. Great show.

Recruiter got me the same way. "well you probably aren't good enough to be a Marine, but you can try if you want". And was like "Oh hell no, where do I sign".
