1. In depth and 360 degrees coverage of details on the topic. Gives an excellent perspective on the topic. First time perhaps someone spoke on this topic in such forums! Many many thanks Adi for getting over Cmde Anil!! 2. It may be noted that apart from Andaman and deep sea port in Kerala, there is another very deep draft port is now identified near Dahanu in Maharashtra, off about 100 km north of Mumbai. The port there can change dynamics for the trade on the Western coast. 3. Chinese naval presence in Mynmar, Bangal Desh and Gawdar is going to be the biggest headache for us in years to come. We must devise adequate strategies to counter the Chinese in our own backyard.

This was a great episode with clear explanations in a number of areas. Can't believe it's been a year since we saw the Cmde last, I remember the previous show was all about subs and is the most comprehensive you can find on YT about the subject.

India has one of the longest coastlines. Goods transport by ships is the cheapest mode of transport. India can increase the domestic transport of non perishable goods between coastal and large riparian states by using ships rather than shipping them through trucks or trains. This will also ease the congestion on train tracks and roads. Does India have any plans for increasing the domestic maritime trade?

Building deep water ports has to be complemented with policy reforms in international trade with critical look at reducing bureaucracy & overhead costs to shipping companies. Only then the deep port initiative will succeed

Most important is absence of deep sea port in India for which we have to depend on controversial COLOMBO & Singapore deep sea port.
One proposed in Kerala is being fiercely opposed ( why?).

I wonder if Cmde Anil Jai Singh, could indulge us more on the advantages of having nuclear powered submarines. I believe I heard on the show 'The Defenders" (Sansad TV); an argument about the long range advantage offered by a Nuclear Powered submarine being matched by AIP equipped Diesel submarine. That argument centred around human endurance without access to sunshine being topped at 40 days requiring the Nuclear submarine to surface, if only for the well being of its human occupants; a submergence duration supposedly matched by an AIP equipped Diesel submarine that entails much lower capital and (operational?) costs.
