Son House’s Death Letter Blues is one of the greatest songs of all time and has been a part of my live show for a long time. It’s a song that tells a long sad story, one that every listener can relate to. On this version I’m using a 1937 National Style O resonator guitar with a brass slide. —Tinsley Ellis

That was the most authentic slide playing since Son House passed on. The authenticity & attack was pure gut bucket blues! Brilliant Mr. Ellis. Bravo!
All the best! Greg Gordon 🎵

Shouting out to any and all Atlantazoids who were out and about in the late 70s and early 80s. Tinsley was Atlanta's answer to Stevie Ray. How many times did this man blow the roof off of the house?
Every time he took the stage.
His talent speaks for itself, but he is also a first rate human being. Anybody who saw him in Atlanta in those days, and knew him will attest to what I say here. One of the best ever!!
The longer he lives, the better he gets. Just like you're supposed to.

I go see Tinsley every time he comes to town especially when he plays the Coach House, best venue ever... have all his albums too. He kills it every time! What a great guitarist, you can hear everything in his playing, from Robin Trower to Robert Johnson, with a voice like a harder edged BB King. Killer.

I love this song and I use to play it alone in my dormroom, based on the brazilian band Blues Etílicos version.

Your version, Mr. Ellis, is awesome. Thank you for showing us the power of Son House's Blues.

Tinsley -- You nailed it -- I think the best thing you EVER did, I I've been listening to since 1979 when I moved home to Atlanta -- Keep it going, Tinsley -- like when you and Hubert Sumlin did "I Should Have Quit You" in that downstairs club in New York about twenty years knox
