Chances are you already have most of the materials you need to make this circle-cutting jig for your router. An aluminum ruler at its heart simplifies the set up for creating accurate circles. Phil Huber shows you how easy it is to make.

Before peeling the paper off the top of the plexiglass, spray red or blue paint on it, or even run a marker over the guide line area. This will make the guideline more visible and easier to read.

Best thing I ever did was sign up for Woodsmith's email tips!!!

Very nice! Just a suggestion - Instead of screwing the router base plate to the jig I drilled a 3/4 inch hole in the base plate of my jig. Using a 3/4” guide bushing with my router lets the router swivel and allows me to use any of my routers that will accept guide bushings with the jig. John Jensen from British Columbia.

If you don't want to drill a hole in your workpiece, double stick tape a block with a hole for the pin to the workpiece. Increase the thickness of the block that attaches the router base to the ruler. No holes in your table top.

You actually don't need to drill a hole in the workpiece. Drill a hole in a waste block, double-face tape it to the workpiece, then route away. You may need to adjust the arc of the trammel to compensate for the waste block.

You said to not align the two rulers at the 5" marks, because you use "most of the time" a 1/2" bit, So what do you do if you choose to use something other than a 1/2" bit? Wouldn't it be better to align the 5" marks and then account for the 1/4" within your diameter measurement? So if you want a 12" radius, you set the measurement to 12 1/4". Or is it better to use a 1/2" bit for this type of work?

Never showed how you determined where to drill the holes to attach the baseplate.
