One of the very few songs that brings me to tears. So gentle, warm, real. Heart. True art.

This song is so beautiful that it makes me cry...
Simon and Garfunkel are extraordinary musicians who know how to speak about life with such gentle emotion.
Our lives go by, but songs like this are forever.

As a mere 60 year old. I still have the pleasure of listening to this on my 70th birthday to look forward to. And, when I do, I will recall my old friend who, as a teenager (as was I at the time) introduced me to this timeless classic musing, melodiously and melancholically on the passage of time.

I hope you are well my old friend. Wherever you are. And yes, “gosh, that was a long bottle”.

I have just turned 75 and remember hearing this for the first time with my best friend. She died before we could keep our promise to meet at that park bench. Cherish life.❤️

“Nobody sees anybody truly but all through the flaws of their own egos.
That is the way we all see ...each other in life. Vanity, fear, desire,
competition-- all such distortions within our own egos-- condition our
vision of those in relation to us. Add to those distortions to our own
egos the corresponding distortions in the egos of others, and you see
how cloudy the glass must become through which we look at each other.
That's how it is in all living relationships except when there is that
rare case of two people who love intensely enough to
burn through all those layers of opacity and see each other's naked hearts.”
Tennessee Williams.

I first heard this at age 13. I will be 70, next month, and can barely believe it. Where did the years go? How did they pass so quickly? 😮

I love this song except for the last line "preserve your memories, they re all thats left you" Especially at 70. Many more good times and memories to go yet!
