"You're being lied to and tricked off of your path." This is such helpful advice and really speaks to the reality that other people don't decide our value. That value doesn't change when we get older. No matter how our face looks. She's awesome.

Just this past weekend, I saw the most beautiful older woman shopping in a store and I took the time to compliment her. I believe it takes all of us to embrace and celebrate beauty in all its forms and to make someone's day. The older generations are only invisible if we allow it.

A necessary conversation! 👏 I love how Justine engages...head forward, direct eyes, passionate but not a zealot. She's rad!

I love her, and agree with her. I will be 50 in a few weeks and love how I look and feel, all natural, not even fake nails lol. It’s all to do with self confidence. The kardashian/Jenners definitely distorted a generation of young girls with falsehoods on the extreme measures women need to take to fit in and be accepted. Bravo Justine for being rad!

Wow! I really needed to hear this! I'm turning 50 in a few months and I'm battling my inner voice wanting to get fillers so I can prevent LOOKING older .. Justine Bateman rocks! I appreciate her so much for helping me hear what makes so much sense to me !

I watched her on Family Ties, loved her then and love her even more now! I once heard something I won’t forget. A lady asked her friend, “That’s a great project for you!” The friend answered, “I can’t do it, it takes five years to finish and I’ll be 50 years old when it’s completed.” The lady replied, “So how old will you be in five years if you don’t do it?” ☺️

This whole conversation is exactly why I wrote my thesis on Marguerite Duras, whose novel, Emily L., began with: "It began with the fear..." and then she speaks of her aging face in The Lover: " At eighteen it was already too late. I aged. This aging was brutal. It spread over my features, one by one. I saw this aging of my face with the same sort of interest I might have taken, for example, in the reading of a book." And, lastly, this wonderful passage (also from "The Lover"): “I've known you for years. Everyone says you were beautiful when you were young, but I want to tell you I think you're more beautiful now than then. Rather than your face as a young woman, I prefer your face as it is now. Ravaged.” Thank you, Justine, for saying and doing what Duras did. You are both beautiful, at whatever age, because you are you. xo

It's so refreshing to see someone with Hollywood ties just allowing themself to get older in a natural way without resorting to plastic surgery. I knew there was a reason I liked her all those years ago when she was on TV.

Awesome. Turning 64 next week, and couldn't agree with her more! Thanks Justine!

Cheers to Justine Bateman for telling it like it is - age is gonna happen and life certainly does get better with time - if only women weren't made to feel like they should be denying their age (all the "anti-aging" commercials that dig in how much you have to try to worry about it!) - be yourself - treat yourself well and be the best version of yourself at that stage of your life. Prayers up for all 💕🙏👍

I think what happens is when you see others who have aged, it's a reminder of your own aging process and mortality. It makes you fearful and angry so you lash out at the other person and criticize their looks.

how gracefully put, we must love ourselves before others can love OURSELVES

Also, why are we so hateful and negative about something that's natural and inevitable for those of us who survive this long? Be happy to grow old!

Ageism is real. Being denied employment opportunities because of age is real. Not being seen as attractive because of aging is real. Being left for someone younger is real. Being seen as not relevant because of age is real. Stop making people feel like it's always their fault or their responsibility to change the story. People have the right to do whatever they need to do in order to be happy with themselves, to be able to walk out the front door with there is criticism and judgment waiting everywhere you go. Not everyone has the luxury of saying "f" the world, I'm fabulous.

The thing about aging is … it’s always better than the alternative.

I am 52 yrs old. There are facial massages you can do daily to keep your skin firm and vibrant, Asahi massage is one such example.
