Though both Ian and Sylvia are icons and legends - their key contribution to the rise of homegrown folk/folk rock/folk country in Canada is, along with Mr. Lightfoot, often just a touch understated, slightly snow blinded, by the (very much loved by me) superstars of a few years later (Mitchell, Cohen, Young, The Guess Who, et al). But man, they were among the first to offer consistent hits. A little bit cowboy, a lit bit boho, they slipped between genres - and didn't shy away from melancholy material. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ian and Sylvia.
