Hi Karen, I “found” the Galena through frugal frock in 2021 and I have made it 8 times within various hacks as well as the straight version. I have made it in a light scuba but gave that version away as I found the sleeves ok but the skirt was too stiff. It is a very full skirt - almost a circle. I wear my versions when we go dancing so I like the skirt to twirl. The ponte would give you a chance to toile it but if you want the full effect I think something with more drape would be better. Hope that helps - although you have probably made it now 😂

I love the Galena dress, I’ve made it three times, short puff sleeves, bishop sleeves and laurel flounce sleeve hack version. Laurel also a free Styla pattern. It’s a great dress and an easy sew. Plus the pattern always hems in the middle of the process which somehow makes it less tedious 🤔😊
