Dr. Jess Perriam is a Lecturer in Sociology at The Open University and lives in London, UK. She received her PhD in Sociology from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2018, specializing in digital sociology and science and technology studies. She is currently co-chair of a new undergraduate distance education class called Understanding Digital Societies. Her research interests are technology use in everyday and public sector digital transformation. When not researching and writing, she enjoys writing snail mail to people around the world.
She says: “I’ve been eagerly following Christina’s JOMO journey since we met as she was putting the finishing touches on her book, The Joy of Missing Out. It’s great to see the many ways that she has grown and expanded on this. In particular, the JOMOcast is a way of extending the conversation further. Christina has a knack for connecting with fascinating people with compelling stories to tell, and she delivers this on the JOMOcast. I’m excited to join this conversation and contribute some sociological perspectives on technology use in daily life."
