2024 Closer to Free - Melissa and the Girls

The three daughters of retired Naugatuck police officer Chip Schofield will be riding in Saturday’s Closer to Free Ride to increase awareness of the rare cancers that took his life: neuroendocrine cancer and acinar cell carcinoma of the pancreas. All veterans of Closer to Free, they will be riding as members of team “Rays of Hope – Smilow Waterbury” and hope to continue his legacy of positivity and giving back to a place that supported him when he needed it most.
