if you run out of string here’s what i do:
-grab a long piece of string
-grab the end that needs string
-line both strings up
-wrap them around index finger
-take out index finger
-put ends of the string through the loop
-pull until knot forms
-grab both extra ends on it
-tie them into a knot 1-2 times
-cut off excess

btw if you ever start to run out of string you can always tie the strings together (it doesn't matter at the top bottom or middle) and then cut the access piece off or change strings entirely by tying them together

So not sure if this has been mentioned already but in crochet/knitting we use what is called a Russian join knot that is very durable. Hope this helps. ❤
