CRAZY iMac Concepts Apple would NEVER MAKE (But Should!)

Показать описание
Fantasian Arrives
This Final Fantasy style turn based RPG has come to Apple Arcade today and I’ve dipped my toes in the water already - it looks amazing and has real feels of Final Fantasy VII right rom the start, looks pretty amazing and I’m definitely going to be diving in more over the weekend. Now while it plays absolutely fine on M1, I think it’s, as most Apple Arcade games are, better suited for touch, so I’ll probably jump in on the iPad. If any of you are giving it a try too I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Crazy iMac Redesigns that Apple probably won’t do.
UltraWide iMac
I’ve become spoiled as you can see from the about of screen behind me, and I have no doubt that Apple won’t got to a 40” display like I did for my Mac mini, but that being said every single rumour and leak imagines the new iMac being a 16:6 or 16:10 display, somewhere between 27” as we have now and 32”, with a number of sources suggesting 30” too. Of course there’s also the smaller version which we’re hearing will be around 24” and pack at least a 4K display too. I’m personally swaying towards the 32” option as that matches with the 6k Pro Display XDR. 5k is cool and all, but its so 2014. Never mind that no-one else caught up yet.
Apple Pencil Easel.
Okay so this was one of my predictions early on, and I’d love Apple to do this still but I’ve not heard anyone else talking about it so I’m not convinced it will be coming, but something akin to Microsoft’s Surface Studio that folds down to around 20-30 degrees from the desktop would be an ideal drawing surface to use with Apple Pencil making the iMac an even more powerful tool for creatives everywhere.
iMac G3 Inspired iMac by Antonio DeRosa
I absolutely love this concept that takes the energy of the original iMac G3 and brings it into… well 2018 actually which is when the concept was created. It also has a pencil but here the keyboard is convertible to a drawing tablet in a more traditional style, meaning a solid state keyboard that only shows keys when you need them, presumably with Haptics.
One major advantage here, the front facing SDcard reader - something Apple should pay attention to… or at least on the side assuming our new iMac has a little more thickness throughout rather than a bulge at the back in the new iteration.
Find the full concept design at Antonio DeRosa’s site, link in the description.
While we’re on a retro binge, here’s a couple more. Xhakomo Doda created this iMac G4 inspired design, which moves the Mac bit into the domed base and then throws a huge thin display onto the iMac G4’s arm. I’m not convinced of the balance of this with the arm off centre here, but the concept is undeniably beautiful.
Curved/Labs has taken the concept even further with a design inspired by the classic Macintosh, which again looks beautifully retro and nostalgic, though the practicality angle takes a hit here as the display, as high resolution as it may be is tiny compared to the body, but of course its to fit the aesthetic. The last thing we need in the new iMacs is more chin.
Of course we’re expecting the real re-design very soon, with those larger displays, which may rotate to portrait orientation like the Pro Display XDR, the powerful M1X system which we’ve predicted the performance of for graphics and compute in the video up here (spoilers, its going to be insane), Possibly new peripherals and new colours that match the iPad Air range and AirPods Max colours right now. #iCaveAnswers - Do you think the value of second hand intel macs will plummet after a few generations of apple silicon?

@iCave - David Eden-Sangwell #iCaveAnswers does this mean m1x will be in V8 ISA and m2 / arm mac pro in V9 ISA ?
Andre Louis
#iCaveAnswers: Hi.
What do you think we’ll see in-terms of optics for this year’s iPhone lineup?
Do you think LiDAR will remain just a Pro feature, or make an appearance on all devices?
More than 12MP sensors, or same sensor-size but upgraded internals and software?
