Meet the Mayer dairy farm family of South Carolina

The Mayer family has been dairy farming in the rolling hills of Newberry, South Carolina for more than three generations. Scott Mayer is in charge now, but his father and grandfather laid the foundation for a successful operation over half a century ago in 1949 with just nine cows. Over the years, they have grown to milking 2,000. In the home facility, they milk about 1,000 cows in a double 20 parallel parlor. About ten years ago they expanded with a second farm and milk about 500 cows there. And yet another farm was added in 2009 and about 500 of our heifers are milked there. They now have more than 30 employees working alongside family members.
