World's Smallest Violin | Scar Last Life Animatic

IT'S DONE!

This took an absurd amount of time but I'm glad it's actually finished! :'D
I've never done anything like this before as this is my first animatic, but I'm pretty pleased on how it turned out!

Disclaimer: some character designs and life count may be wrong, and there may be a few details I missed out. Sorry for that :'(

Context : Last Life SMP. For those who haven't watched it, basically, everyone spawns inside a small Minecraft world, and are assigned a random amount of lives from 2-6 at the start. A Player with 3+ lives has a green name (or eyes in this animatic), and with 2 lives, has a yellow name, while a player with 1 life has a red name. Red names are hostile and all alliances are cut when one becomes red. When a player dies on their red name, they're out of the series. Each session, the server will randomly assign someone to be the bogeyman, whose task is to kill someone yellow or green during the session, else on the next session, they will automatically become red name. Players are allowed to give lives to another. Last player standing wins :)

GoodtimeswithScar, or Scar in short, is one of the players lucky enough to acquire 6 lives from the start, and even became 7 as the series progressed. He is a crafty and cunning wizard up in his Magical Mountain, selling magical crystals and other trinkets to people around him. Scar also possesses the Enchanter, the most powerful item in the series and used it to his advantage. Despite his wealth, Scar lived alone and had no allies, especially after his fellow wizard Smallishbeans(Joel) became a red life. Desperate to have someone, Scar was ready to give everything he had, even selling his lives to red names on the promise that they will be his allies. But, after an accident at the Southlands that made him a red life, he slowly realized that no one was really there for him, and that his cruel world deserved nothing but death and fire.

That little sequence of Etho scrambling behind Scar to pick up the explosives is so precious! It unlocked for me how amazing a proper team up between those two would be; both of them run on looney toons logic

Man, I loved the moment where Scar respawns in his bed, glanced up at the single red heart hovering there, and scowls. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the lives represented that way, and I love it, especially since it worked so well with the flow of the song :)

Holdup, your FIRST animatic?? Sooo good my dude you did an amazing job! I never realised how well this song fit thematically with Scar’s Last Life story so well! The pacing was great, all those transitions amazing and I loved all the little watcher details you speckled here and there! Loved it! :D

Now that secret life has concluded, this works for it as well if not better than Last Life.

Brilliant. I think this sort of embodies why Scar didn’t do as well in Last Life in comparison to 3rd Life. I think we all know his greatest weapon is his silver tongue. But he needs allies to truly capitalise on that. And by episode 2 he was basically alone.

OK LETS TALK ABOUT 0:42 LIKE THAT IS SOOOO SMOOTH with Scar doing his crystal thing but no body there to witness it. It was really good and I always wanted to get into this stuff but the more I watch them the more complicated it seems

This was an absolute joy to watch. I'd never have thought to use this song for Scar but it fits him so well, and matches the frivolous nature of his character despite his circumstances and solitude. The scenes are so dynamic and creative as well, especially with Scar placing the tnt while dancing to the music and Etho picking it back up. But that's just one specific moment, I adored the whole thing.

You can really see the progression of your skill as the animatic went on, as well. This is so so underrated

Dang what an incredible take on the last life story! I loved the transition of Scar from being a fun but lonely character to his red life rage arc, and that end genuinely gave me chills! You actually made Scar seem cool (lol), and the music choice fit incredibly well. An amazing first attempt, hope to see more like this soon.

Honestly, if scar didn’t die in stupid ways he would probably be one of the most dangerous on the server. In third life he died stupidity twice yet still got top two, in LL he only died to pvp twice, his other deaths were environmental and most of his lives were lost by giving them away
