Critics don't live and work here. Hardworking, honest citizens have a right to quality of life and safety.

Why are the critics against, quality of life? That speaks volumes!

It’ll never work in Manhattan bc the D.A. won’t charge on any of these crimes.

Public urination is not always committed by criminals. Some people would only urinate in an emergency, while others do it everyday disrespectfully. But drug selling definitely, about time

Something had to be done to reverse the steep decline of the quality of life in our city. The blatant disregard for the law had to be stopped as ordinary citizens cannot be afraid to walk their own streets.

How about arrest all criminals and not let them out?

Pissing on the corner leads without a care in the world leads to an entitled mentality. If someone is comfortable pissing in a corner with no shame or consequences, they’ll be comfortable jaywalking in the street while flipping off traffic, if someone is comfortable flipping off traffic while jaywalking without ever being confronted, they’ll be comfortable jumping the turnstile without a care in the world. If someone realizes they can jaywalk, piss in public, jump the turnstile, why not trespass onto private property and just hang out? Why not smoke a crack pipe in front a children’s playground? Why not fill up a cart with garbage and set up a tent in a subway car? Why not take up space or start cursing and getting into “disputes” with pedestrians or subway riders? Someone looks at you the wrong way? Someone standing to close to you? Well shlt, why not shove them outta the way? Someone confronts you about loitering, jaywalking, graffiti, littering, smoking crack pipe, pissing in a corner or defecating in public… if you’re used to all that stuff being “allowed” and “tolerated”, then why not start swinging and shoving people too? Why not grab a hammer to do the same?

The whole point is that a lot of criminals are always going to push the boundaries of what society deems unacceptable. People don’t go from having a clean record to attacking grandma with a hammer overnight. The crimes are usually small and typically escalate over time as a criminal continues to push the boundaries, seeing what they can get away with.

Broken windows policing works. It has a fantastic track record. In area where there are few homicides and violent crimes, there is also far less graffiti, open drug use, defection, trespassing, burglaries, jaywalking, street takeovers, sideshows, and noise pollution.

All of these things go hand in hand. If you crack down on these things, you will also likely prevent numerous far more heinous crimes form taking place in the process.

These so-called critics don't seem to be around when crime is going on, why isn't there protests on these so-called critics, protest against the critics

You think, you don’t arrest drug dealing?? And guess who it hurts, not me or others smart enough to move out of the city. This is why certain neighborhoods will never change, you protect the criminal than dont complain when your the victim.

Where do you pee when business’ won’t let you use their bathrooms? I’m not saying to do it in front of people but when you gotta go, you gotta go. I’m not gonna piss myself any where for anyone. To my knowledge, pregnant women and diabetics are the only protected classes who can’t be refused bathrooms under any circumstances. Sadly even they are refused at some establishments whether they know their rights or not.
