Donald Trump said he was safe after what the FBI said appeared to be an assassination attempt at the former US president’s West Palm Beach golf club.

Officials said US Secret Service agents opened fire when they spotted a person with a firearm at the Trump international golf course, near the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort home. The suspected gunman was later said to be detained after he fled in a car
