How is this a new video? Trump offered to buy it for America when he was president. They said no again. That was like 5-6 years ago.

The famous Viking who discovered and settled Greenland was Erik the Red, not Danish Vikings. Erik the Red was from Iceland and Norway, highlighting that it was Norse explorers from these regions who settled Greenland around 985 AD, not Danes.

This is false. Norwegian vikings in Iceland went there and claimed it for Norway. After the union of Norway and Denmark and Sweden than demanding Norway they realized that Sweden was only claiming mainland Norway meaning they could claim all of Norways overseas islands.
Norway tried making another Greenland colony to try to reclaim it but it failed.

There is certainly no one who really understands anything at all. The Danish-Greenlandic relationship doesn't have much to do with Vikings." Greenland, the world’s largest island, became a part of Denmark through a complex historical process that involved exploration, settlement, and colonial expansion. The Danish connection to Greenland began in the early 18th century when Danish-Norwegian explorer Hans Egede established a mission in 1721, aimed at converting the indigenous Inuit population to Christianity. This marked the beginning of formal Danish claims over the territory.
As the relationship between the Inuit and the Danish evolved, Greenland was gradually integrated into the Danish kingdom. In 1776, the Danish government began regulating trade in Greenland, allowing Denmark to exert more control over the island's resources and economy. The establishment of a monopoly on trade was critical in solidifying Danish influence.
In 1953, an important change occurred when Greenland was declared an integral part of the Kingdom of Denmark, granting its inhabitants Danish citizenship and representation in the Danish Parliament. This shift marked the transition from a colonial administration to a more integrated status within Denmark.
Today, while Greenland maintains a high degree of self-governance, it remains part of the Danish Realm, reflecting a complex history of conquest, culture, and compromise that ultimately made Greenland Danish. The relationships forged during this period have left a lasting legacy on both Greenlandic and Danish identities. Best whises from Denmark🇩🇰

Ill save you some time: Norway owned most of Denmarks colonies in the union and when the Norwegian mainland was occupied by Sweden after napoleonic wars the colonies didnt include so Norway didnt Get independence with them so Denmark just stole Greenland from Norway (Edit: Norway Also tried to reconquer Greenland launching a force taking the eastern parts of the island, but was sadly forced to back down, so thats some constructive criticism)

Wow imagine thinking Greenland was colonized by Denmark . It was colonized by Norway and once Norway and Denmark became Denmark Norway it became a part of Denmark . It was kept with Denmark while Norway was given to Sweden .

Eric the Red of Norway was kicked out of Norway. He exiled in Iceland, but was kicked out of there too. Went to Greenland and settled there
Norway was united with Denmark under the rule of Margrete 1. who created the Kalmarunion 1397.
Norway was separated from Denmark 1814, but Greenland, Iceland and Faroe Islands stayed with Denmark.
That is the history.

Denmark do not own Greenland. Greenland is a part of the Danish Kingdom, right. But Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders.
