For Hive to be successful its going take more than just VTubers flocking to it. It'll be up to major brands and their advertising dollars to embrace the platform. Despite the chaos Twitter is far and away more advanced and established and will take a monumental effort from Hive to match it.

I wish them all the best, but I think Hive just wasn't ready for the sudden burst in popularity. Still early access and is missing features like account verification and while they are manually giving the usernames to those that ask, I fear it will quickly spiral out of control if they don't have good moderation.

Unless you verify it is indeed those accounts messaging you which is unlikely especially coperate Vtubers don't fall for it just because they are your Oshi. Also please don't be guillable. If they ask you for phone or credit card details block. There is no way they would ask for that and even if they are real they are not allowed to. Hololive and Nijisanji doesn't allow that and they only allow sharing among talents. So be careful of these scams.

Hive social seems like a cool app with interesting user-facing features, but it lacks many critical elements in the back, like a cybersecurity team and a content moderation team. They've stated yesterday they were a team of 2 people and had one new developer join that day. I'm pretty sure having one team member working on developing new features / fixing bugs 24/7, another managing the Twitter account and PR; and the third probably doing customer support and everything else is not gonna be enough for 1 million+ users.
I hope they manage to put together a competent team with the right skills and figure out a way to keep the platform running with the sudden influx of new users and the surely skyrocketing infrastructure costs. Wishing them the best of luck.

Even though you can buy for Twitter blue Verification now which unfortunately people use it to impersonate. Pretty much you can just check the Tweets and followers plus Nijisanji and Hololive accounts themselves you will know weather they are real or not. Don't fall for these impersonations. Also unless you are a close member of the community or part of a company there is almost no way the talents of those companies or the company messaging you unless it is a takedown request or something like that. I kind of agree that I only really need Discord and Youtube to entertain myself. Even through a networking point of view, I'm not sure Twitter's algorithm is much better, but whaddo I know. Makes me feel a bit validated that I rarely use any other social media though.

So in regards to Hive freeing up the username Zentreya wanted, does that mean the Hive admins forcibly changed the name of the person who took it? If so that just seems kind of crappy and gives the impression that if you’re popular enough and want a certain name somebody already has, then you can just contact Hive support and they’ll just give you the name and take it away from the person who had it.
