Vintage Everts Cargo DC6, N100CE, takes off from Anchorage once more. Never get tired of these beautiful classics that still perform a workhorse role in Alaska(ANC - 09/2014).

The sound of a dc4 or dc6 is a sound you never forget whether you've heard it once or a million times you know when that sound is in the near distance there's a need for some serious work somewhere those big radial engines in the mountains is truly a masterpiece of engineering

Growing up in Cold Bay I got to hear the beautiful sounds of the DC-6, DC-3 and C-46 taking off on most days.  Music to my ears.

This never gets old. DC-6 is always a beautiful sight and sound to behold. Thanks for sharing an outstanding aircraft.

DC 6 has been very popular in Central America for Cargo. It is so powerful, noisy and beautiful.

I have seen many DC-6 take off videos and none can match this one in terms of engine sound. This is the best by far.

Without a doubt, some of the most beautiful music ever, starting at about 1:27. I usually play a dozen times before getting enough of it!!

Ive done a lot of runway work at Ted Stevens AIA and have been within a hundred feet of some of Everets and NACs DC6s when they've taxied by with all four engines and their clackity clack clackity clack.
Im 51 and have stood on the running board of my truck when they've taken to the sky too, I guess some things you just don't out grow. If ever there was a sound of destiny then the DC6 is it.

Wow!! Pure music!! The engines on this particular DC6 are much louder than normal. At 1.27, as he approaches,   you hear pure engine music, at 1.31 the 3-blade prop sound mixes in, making the music even more beautiful, then at 1.40 the prop sound fades away leaving that pure 72 cylinder music as the sound fades away. I also like seeing all four props appear to reverse direction at once as the pilot throttles back a bit. Really great video and saved to my favorites. Thanks!!

1:36 that roar coming out of these Pratt & Whitney R-2800CB17 radials gives me goosebumps all over. Unbelievable. Takes me back on a nostalgic ride back into the golden era when flying still had something of a charming touch to it...

PMDG has just built a beautiful study level DC6 simulation for P3Dv.4, and I am getting so addicted to it. This is just a beautiful aircraft and so much fun to fly in the simulator. I also have the JustPlanes' Everts video and it is great.
I remember when I was around 9 years old, I flew with my family on a DC6 (or might have been a DC7) from New York City to San Juan, Puerto Rico. I remember looking out the window and seeing the cowl flaps sticking out while it was taxing, and thinking that the engines were coming apart.

Music to my ears. The sounds I grew up with, in the 1950's and 1960's.

Listen to the snarl of those big Pratts! I remember when that sound was commonplace at the airport. <Sigh>
