Will theSPAAG 30/2 self-propelled anti-aircraft gun project see completion and serial production?
At the end of the eighties of the last century, the artillery corps air defense of the then JNA was based on the outdated M-53/59 Praga self-propelled gun.
In addition to insufficient accuracy and range, this tool was also characterized by poor off-road mobility, which was especially evident in conjunction with tracked armored vehicles. In order to solve this problem, a new self-propelled anti-aircraft gun was developed on the chassis of the BVP M-80A combat vehicle.
A turret with two M-86 caliber 30mm Zastavin guns is installed on the armored body.
In that period, the Nissan J-171 computer systems and the more efficient Motorola 6800 were introduced into the armament of the JNA, initially intended for the modernization of anti-aircraft guns "Prague", but they could also be installed in the turret of the new combat vehicle SPAT 30/2.
Despite the best technical characteristics, this vehicle has not been serially produced to this day, because priority was given to the project based on the wheeled armored vehicle BOV-1, on which a turret with a two-barreled cannon was installed.
Four such vehicles were shown at the parade on May 9, 1985. In the end, this vehicle did not enter serial production, allegedly due to the channeling of funds to the SAVA missile system project (Strela-10M2J).

Krajem osamdesetih godina prošlog veka artiljerijska trupna PVO tadasnje JNA zasnivala se na zastarelom samohodnom topu M-53/59 Praga.
Pored nedovoljne preciznosti i dometa ovo orudje je odlikovala i losa prohodnost van puteva, sto je narocito dolazilo do izrazaja u sadejstvu sa guseničnim oklopnim vozilima. U cilju resavanja ovog problema razvijen je novi samohodni protivavionski top na šasiji borbenog vozila BVP M-80A.
Na oklopno telo ugradjena je kupola sa dva Zastavina topa M-86 kalibra 30mm.
U tom periodu u naoruzanje JNA su se uvodili nisansko racunarski sistemi J-171, i jos efikasniji Motorola 6800, inicijalno namenjeni za modernizaciju protiavionskih topova “Praga”, ali su mogli biti ugradjeni i u kupolu novog borbenog vozila SPAT 30/2.
I pored najboljih tehnickih karakteristika ovo vozilo nije serijski proizvodjeno do danas, jer je prednost data projektu na osnovi oklopnog vozila tockasa BOV-1, na koji je ugradjena kupola sa dvocevnim topom.
