Finding a Half-Sister Through DNA Testing
Показать описание
Watch this heart-warming story about two half-sisters who found each other through the Healthy Nevada Project DNA testing.
Paige Allison, a Renown Hometown Health Representative, Self-Funding Services, learned at an early age from her parents that she was adopted into their wonderful Carson City family. But ever since she was a young girl, she wanted to find her birth parents. She was mainly concerned about her medical history.
Allison joined the Healthy Nevada Project, which provides no-cost genetic testing through Helix as part of a population health study,
to find out if she had any DNA-related health issues.
While her test didn't turn up much medically, it wasn't long before she was contacted by a first cousin who told her he knew who her birth Dad was. And that she has a half-sister who grew up in Yerington, only about a half hour away.
Allison and her half-sister, Natalie McCargar, bonded instantly and have learned they have a lot in common.
"I'm happy to have a half-sister that we are close to and can communicate with and just share my life with," says McCargar.
Referring to the DNA test, Allison says, "It bridges a gap as far as questions you may have about your medical history or family history. Some people don't want to know that information, but if you do want to know I highly recommend DNA testing." Find out more about the Healthy Nevada Project at HealthyNV.org
