ACLU suing to get Sarasota county man released

The ACLU of Florida says judges across our state are setting bail amounts that people can't afford. And one of those people is a Sarasota man named John Hodges. Tonight, to get him out of jail before an upcoming trial, the group has filed a suit against the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

I agree with a affordable bail for those with lesser non life threatening offense should be a warded. Our jails were made for rapist murders and bank n store robbers. With what is going on in these year's has gone far beyond what their build for..that's why they keep building more n more prisons. People that steal a bike should have a different type of punishment like cleaning streets believe me there's a lot of streets that need cleaning..or straighten out our landfills.

Did he take that until fact....ummm.... before he DID THE CRIME!!! I think that this is what's needed to show the law breakers a lesson!?!?!? And for them to see that the justice system isn't going to take it anymore!

A homeless guy with a simple theft charge poses no threat to the population, or threat of flight to avoid prosecution. That's why there's bail in the first place. This country is Afghanistan.
