It’s very nice to see a modern version of the classic calendar view! I just tried it here with a new list and it works great 😊
Unfortunately it doesn’t yet work well with an existing Events List which uses the EVENTS content type.
Although I was able to display my existing calendar/events list with the modern view, and add new events, I was not able to edit existing events on the calendar. I’m hoping this functionality will be added soon!

Is there a way to leverage calculated columns for the calendar view, or a work around? I've tried using 2 columns (one as a calculated column and one as a standard date column) and using Power Automate to copy the data over, but it's more complicated than it needs to be. Any thoughts? Love you videos BTW!

Hi..great video. In the end, we can see multiple dots on the field name in the calendar view which doesn't look that good. Is there any way to avoid that?

Is there a way where you can restrict which users can create an event on the list? For example, if I had an admin team that did room bookings that other staff can view but not book themselves.

What should we do for reoccurring events in Modern SharePoint Online (SPO). We have a On-Prem SP2013 site that we will be migrating/recreating in SPO soon. We have a calendar that we use as our "Master Calendar" and then use Calendar Overlay in working group subsites from different views in the Master. We input all events in the Master Calendar. The biggest problem I am seeing is reoccurring events in SPO. I would love to use the events webpart in SPO, but you cannot create reoccuring events. Your demo also does not account for this. We place weekly staff meetings, monthly telecons, and annual events currently in our SP2013 calendar, which are all reoccurring. I am trying to find a way to recreate this in SPO.

To the right of the calendar, there is an events view box. Is there any way to turn this off and stop it from displaying?

Doesnt let yiu color by custom choice fields so kinda sucks and even doing default a choice field its limited on format. Only 8-10 colors i believe. Trying to do a Team calendar where each team member has a unique color...so this wont work since we have 20 team members. Bummer

The modern calendar view looks great, but unfortunately it doesn't support recurring events or overlays. Hopefully Microsoft fixes that in the near future.
