I knew his theatre arts professor in Ann Arbor Michigan. Her name was Claribel Halstead. She was my wife’s great aunt. She used to talk about how shy and soft spoken he was, until he had a part on stage and then he had this big booming voice that we all know. He will be missed by generations of people.

I had the good fortune to show my daughter 'The Empire Strikes Back' in a big-screen theater, when she was 10. She sat glued to the screen for the entire movie. When Vader said "I am your father", she turned to me, shocked, points to the screen, and without thinking, shouts "THEY STOLE THAT FROM TOY STORY!" I burst out laughing, as did everybody in the theater. I gently explained it was the other way around.

To the only man who could truly have brought Lord Vader to life: ANY tall, muscled-up bodybuilder could have filled the suit.
But only YOU could fill his soul with such depth and menace. Mr. Jones, if you were English, you'd have been 'Sir James Earl Jones'. R.I.P.
