Korg Poly-800 Backing Track

I recently published a video where I take a non-functioning Korg Poly-800, repair and restore it, then make it even better with some new modifications. You can see that video here:

While creating the video, I used the Poly-800 that I show being repaired in the video to create a backing track FOR the video.

I had a couple people ask if I would post a video with JUST that backing track in it. This is that video!

This track was created in about three hours using six different sounds, all of which I created on the Poly-800. All sounds you hear (including the drums) are from the Poly-800. EQ, compression, reverb and echo were added in Cubase while mixing. The Poly-800 is actually fun and easy to make sounds on, because it is so simple!

Must be hard to play it when it's flying through the air the whole time. ;)

Sounds perfectly 80s and the drum sounds are impressive from a synth. Thanks for the link Scott.

A very nice track that captures the typical Poly-800 sound quite well. 🙂👍

Hey Scott I hope you are doing well. Your videos are really cool. I really liked your story video about your clubbing days. I am really into 80s music from bands and artists like A-ha, Depeche Mode, John Foxx, Japan, Gary Numan and Yazoo. Genres like synth pop, and New Wave just take you to another place and it’s really unique compared to today’s music which I don’t really listen to a lot. I really wanna get a synthesizer but I don’t know how to play or which one to get. My question is which synth do you recommend for someone getting into synthesizers?
