Seeing a lot of people from the Cedar Valley comment here. I always realized in our area it was a huge deal. But I didn’t realize how popular this case was nation wide. YouTube videos with millions of views. And now a documentary. The Waterloo area will never forget & neither will the world. Rip 😢

i was 8 years old at a baseball game in Waterloo when this happened. my mom’s friend pulls up with her son and his friend, the boy starts talking about how his sister and cousin had left their bikes in the middle of a park and were nowhere to be seen. the “sister and cousin” were lyric and elizabeth. i’ve thought about that at least weekly since july 2012. i’m 20 now and it kills me that they’re not here to experience their 20s.

I was friends with Elizabeth way back at Poyner and the week they went missing was insane in both school and outside of school. Having adults come in, sit people from our grade down, and prepare children for “possibly bad news”? It was insane. Parents had their kids on LOCKDOWN for many years after that. Horribly sad and people still talk about it in town to this day.

Evansdale is 10 minutes away from where I live. It’s a quiet town where crime was never a fear until the day those girls disappeared. It changed the community forever. I can only pray this gets their families one step closer to finding the monster that did this.

i remember going to elementary with elizabeth in evansdale… the whole thing seemed so unreal and my mom moved us out of town about 2 years later

I was freinds with Callie Collins in poyner and through middle school, I still talk to her and she was the sweetest soul ever, after everything that everything that happened, and I will never forget that day.

This case has always bothered me so much. Absolutely heartbreaking. It happened close to my hometown and it’s so scary to think this monster is still out there. Maybe it’s just me, but this seems so eerily similar to the girls in Delphi, Abby and Libby. I remember an investigator in that case speaking kind of early on about how unusual it is for one killer to go after 2 victims, because so much can go wrong for them. They have someone in custody in that case now, I wonder if he had any ties to Iowa during that time?

I live in Waterloo (the city right next to Evansdale) and have family who live there. I was young when this happened and I remember it was true Ilinsanity.

My ex-husband got questioned as he frequently hunted the area where the girls were found. I remember once I went with him and we found an abandoned car out at 7 bridges...that area is out if the way and quiet it was definitely planned out. I've always hoped that these girls case would get the attention it deserved to find out what happened to them.

i lived in evensdale when this happened andi just moved when i was 4 it was a big deal for our town, my parents were terrified and thought what if i or my brother were taken . we moved beacause of this.

I was her neighbor, this was my best friend, she invited me to go to evensdale with her that same day they went missing. I still greave my best friend to this day, holding her teddy bear as I type this.
