I don't mind Toriyama's retcon of Buu's origin. It doesn't even contradict the original story when you think about it. Kaioshin wasn't aware of the difference between Bibidi summoning Buu versus creating him, as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't change the story or create plot holes. The only question I have is how King Cold knew about him if he has been hibernating on and off for who knows how many thousands to millions of years before Babidi released him. So many questions about the relationship between King Cold and Buu.

Yeah okay but you forget that Mr.Krabs almost tore someone’s arm off for a penny.

Personally I prefer the retcon. Mostly because I'm fairly certain it is said Babidi is roughly as powerful as his "father" was. Which makes me wonder why he couldn't just make another buu esque thing. So the idea of him just knowing how to make Buu fall asleep seems more consistent with the skillset we see Babidi showcases. Plus it makes Buu less of a cell ripoff. And emphasizes the mystical nature of Buu.

Took me years to realize Bibidi, Babidi and Buu are a reference to a song...i think. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo

God I remember seeing all this for the first time when I was a kid and how unbelievably entrancing it was to watch. First Frieza, who was built up to be the greatest villain of all time, then Cell comes around and is this whole different type of badass with different motives, and then Buu awakens and evolves and it was like "OK, this dude literally CANNOT be beaten". It was all so amazing.

So you're telling me he didn't just pop into existence?

You could argue that Beerus wasn't there due to some hibernation cycle they(Gods of Destruction) go through

Honestly, I like the recton more this time. Looking back, it makes the final battle of buu arc even more epic. Buu that was evil by mortal was cast down by mankind joining hands.

Kid Boo is in my top five Dragon Ball villains and I would LOVE to see him return!

I prefer Toriyama’s retcon more. If Bibidi is far too weak to stand up to the Kaio-shins how would have the power to make something as strong as Kid Boo?

On the other hand, Kid Boo being there since the beginning of time adds more of a cool mystery to him. But, I don’t like that he wasn’t always evil. I kind if like the idea that he is the literal form of pure evil, it adds a spice to his character.

Ingredients for Kid Buu:

1/2 to 1 cup of powdered sugar
1/2 cup base gum pellets
1 tablespoon powdered flavoring
2 tablespoons of corn syrup

Bibidi being the creator ties up everything in a nice shiny bow, it makes more sense and makes him and his son more relevant and purposeful

Though I'm sure Daima will delve into the real answer to this

The original origin story is more along the lines of classic storytelling, but the revamped origin story is far more intriguing and leaves plenty of answers to be desired.

I would love to see the new Villian having some sort of history with Majin Buu. That would be awesome.

The funny thing is that all this got retconned and now buu was made by a witch or something😭

This is why I think Kid Buu could come back in the new manga arc simply because of the “absorbing the evil elements of mankind” thing. He expelled that evil when Mr. Satan was shot in front of him, but he was still Fat Buu because of the Daikaioh/South Kai inside of him.
If Daikaioh could be removed or whatever, it would alter Fat Buu’s form, rendering him into a pure Buu with no evil absorbed, which we only know so far as Kid Buu.

I hated buu before but dbfz made me really like Kid Buu. It even made me revisit the Buu arc after years and enjoyed it even more.

Interesting fact at one point, Majin Boo was deemed stronger between Beerus and himself. Probably through training with Whis was Beerus able to surpass Majin Boo

It would be cool if Moro ends up knowing about Majin Buu, like maybe he was the one who showed Babidi how to summon him or something. I have a feeling dude knows something and it involves that whole story arc.

I like the retcon. It makes more sense. As being this ancient primordial force. Doesn't fit Bibidi being able to magically create something that strong when he himself isn't anywhere near there.

He's basically a universal necessity seeing as how he appears after consuming so much negative energy and was probably created by whomever created the universe to to keep the balance between negative and positive energy, he appears when negative goes haywire, if Zeno is at the top of the god hierarchy then he's probably the one who created him, that's my best guess
