I've been living this "underconsumption core" for years, but it used to be called "being responsible with finances"

Idk, not all but SOME consumption core tiktoks feel like "Trashy if you're poor, Classy if you're rich" vibes

The comment on beige is actually so accurate. Pairing overconsumption with "minimalist" colours is so interesting.

Tiktok trying not to have a crisis for 5 minutes (level impossible)

As someone who grew up in a family that reused and saved every jar and container we bought and wore things (like shoes) till they were literally falling apart and survived on second-hand clothes and furniture and VERY rarely got new toys, I will say becoming an adult and having even a bit of disposable income it’s been so hard to train myself to balance between “I’m allowed to buy something nice for myself once in a while” but also “do I really need it or does it just look pretty or glamorized”.

I still try and recycle/reuse things but I don’t save every single container from a product I buy. I still thrift my clothes but will buy new every now and then.

I hate this trend of collecting reusable water bottles and ALL the stuff. It makes me feel so gross.

If you want your plants to grow, you need to replant them in larger pots! Plants are like goldfish, they grow as big as their container lets them

1) Thank God I don't have TikTok 2) Holy crap I had no idea consumerism had this much of a chokehold on society - the excessive accessories for the Stanley cups...just what

i hate the skin care/makeup overconsumption so much. Not only is it incredibly unnecessary but its also useless, since more than half the products the person bulk buyed will probably go bad before they get to open them

Please, stop eating Crumbl.

It’s undercooked and over priced (not to mention the way they treat their workers). Just go out and get a tube of cookie dough from the grocery store and make it for yourself.

If you want that soft cookie style, cut the cookies and then freeze them. Cooking from frozen will help give you the outside crisp/inside soft thing.

And if you wanna make your own fully cooked but still soft cookies, switch away from all purpose flour, cake or bread flour can give you more cake-y or bread-y texture. And if you want to REALLY make a soft cookie mess up proof, remove 1-2tbsp of flour and replace them with corn starch. The amount is variable depending on recipe size, but take it from a professional baker. It’s doable and you don’t have to run the risk of kinetic sand cookies.

Edit: Gonna add this here cause a few people have thanked me for the soft cookie tips.

If you want softer cookies from scratch, never melt your butter/fat. It needs to be creamed in (beaten with the sugars) until it's light and fluffy since that's the only way air gets added into your recipe. Combine that with the other tips and you shouldn't have any issues.

How the heck are they even gonna drink from that cup after they've transformed it into a friggin' backpack? Are they planning to do dumbbell curls with that thing?

Plant mama advice: My plants usually stop growing when the roots are growing against the pot, so you may be inclined to repot your plant at some point in time☺️ greetings from Germany on a day that definitely lacked a ray of sunshine for me!

I hate how they all do the same thing as well; no music, just nails tapping on everything, must crinkle everything that can be crinkled. I HATE it so much. The quiet is unnerving and makes me want to block them

There's a level of hell that is untouched here for you Ray. One of the creators you used a lot there is named Emily Leah. She used to be a big name in the anti multi-level marketing Youtuber sphere because she would point out that (rightly) MLMs prey on women by forcing them to buy untold amounts of products so they can make a commission of their 'business'. She who once told women not to buy too much stuff to feel valid is now... living in a beige hell of stuff. You truly do die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.

This reminds me of when a little kid I teach dance to asked me what BRAND my WATER BOTTLE was😭😭😭
She’s 11 and already thinks everything needs to have a trendy brand, and we’re 5 years apart
I just showed her the normal plastic Great Value bottle and told her not everything needs to have a brand

16:40 we only need to look at men’s vs women’s fashion. For women styles change every season. (Not the TikTok trends but offline fashion) while men’s styles stay relatively similar over many years.
